Greetings from the Capitol Riverfront BID team. 2024 was a year of continued growth and opportunity in our community:
We celebrated the neighborhood’s continued growth with the addition of 480 new housing units.
Public safety/crime trends are going in the right direction, both District-wide and in Capitol Riverfront
The BID brought the holiday spirit to life with a variety of festive events, including our inaugural Holiday on Half Street Passport Program
With the Capitol Riverfront neighborhood nearing 73% of its full build-out, the BID’s focus is evolving from facilitating physical development to nurturing a sense of community, stewarding a strong neighborhood brand, while promoting economic development. The 2024 Annual Report showcases the BID’s key areas of impact aimed at fostering and strengthening community connections.
Capitol Riverfront is blessed with exceptional public spaces – Yards Park and Canal Park. This year we prioritized lighting and programming to make these spaces vibrant hubs for the community that feels welcoming and safe.
The pending delivery of over 1,500 new housing units in Buzzard Point in 2025 will expand the core of the neighborhood. The BID continues to collaborate with District Agencies and the community to connect Buzzard Point’s buildings, spaces, and residents through strategic investments in infrastructure, engaging programming, and meaningful partnerships.
Already recognized as a premier destination for sports and entertainment, Capitol Riverfront is further enhancing its desirability by leveraging the growing residential community and proximity to the river. The BID is cultivating partnerships in the areas of wellness and culture to broaden the neighborhood’s offerings and strengthen its unique identity.
Our goal is to make the CR BID the ultimate neighborhood of choice – where urban living seamlessly blends livability with lifestyle and where world-class sports and entertainment take center stage. Thank you for being a part of this exciting journey and for your continued support!
